Do you think Rocky IV is the greatest boxing movie ever?

With the exception of the last couple, the Rocky movies were all pretty good to an extent, but Rocky IV, with Dolph Lundgren as the huge Russian fighter is my favorite by far.....I think it could be the greatest boxing movie off all time.

I think this must be the best Rocky movie ever. I love it!

If you think this is the best, then the others, if any, must be really bad

I always found Rocky III to be the best. You have Rocky, who has become complacent due to his time as champion, facing a new opponent far stronger and more aggressive than anything. His loss at the hands of Clubber is compounded by the death of his trainer and friend, Mickey, and it takes his old rival Apollo to help bring him back from it to reclaim victory.

The third movie seems to wrap up the storyline of the first two really well, and the other ones just kind of feel tacked on rather than being an actual intended part of the film series. You have the rising towards the top to challenge the best in the first one, reaching the top in the second, then falling only to rise again.

"Rocky IV" is entertaining, but I've always preferred the original "Rocky" and "Rocky III". The fourth one is just so ridiculous and over the top. It also seems very dated now. Still a very fun movie though, despite its flaws. But artistically I think "Raging Bull" or the original "Rocky" would be the greatest boxing movie of all time.

I think the first Rocky is the best.  It's a lot grittier, and although its dramatic it has more  of a realistic vibe to it.  The underdog who rises up from nowhere and goes bell to bell with the champ and perseveres out of pure heart and guts is, I think, a much more powerful plot than the others where Rocky seems to have almost superhuman powers . . . more like a professional wrestler. I think the original Rocky is one of the greatest movies of all time.

However, being a teenager in the '80s, Rocky IV was definitely a source of inspiration when it came to training for sports and lifting weights.  Who among us didn't climb to the top of the nearest mountain and shout "Drago!" at the top of our lungs?

Okay, maybe that was just me!

Rocky IV also had a strong message about peace and understanding between the US and the Soviets.  I think its hard for younger people who weren't around back then to realize how much tension there was during the Cold War.

Rocky IV is the perfect example of in-your-face, American propaganda. It's as subtle as a sledgehammer to your chest with its anti-Soviet, Cold War subtext. But darn, if it isn't entertaining... It's a crowd-pleasing spectacle.

Artistically, I prefer the original and, ironically, the last one. But I think I've seen Rocky IV the most out of all.

For me it is a toss up between III and IV  I liked both of them  I and II were on the boring side and was disappointed with V  still need to watch Rocky Balboa

"Rocky IV" is for me the most entertaining in the series but I think the first and the final movie are more complete movies. As for best boxing movie of all time it is hard because "The Fighter" is good but then you have "Raging Bull" which is a very different sort of boxing movie.
